The B.E.T. Hip-Hop Awards Are Back!
With MTVs VMA debacle over with, fans can get ready for yet another award show. When BET's second annual Hip-Hop Awards air on October 17, we can assume that the event will be free of any sedated Britney Spears performances or scuffles between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee. However, another Kanye West tantrum is always possible.
West is once again up for Video of the Year with "Stronger," while 50 Cent's "I Get Money," Common's "The People," and UGK's "International Players Anthem" also got nods. MIMS and Hurricane Chris will try to keep Lil' Wayne from taking the People's Champ Award two years in a row--Wanye has been nominated for his respective efforts on "Stuntin Like My Daddy" and DJ Khaled's "We Takin' Over." T.I. leads in all categories with nine nominations, including Best Live Performance and Lyricist of the Year. There will also be a special tribute to Hip-Hop legend KRS-One, who will receive ever so appropriately titled I Am Hip Hop Award.
The show airs at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, and more details as well as a complete list of nominees are available at BET.com.
