Lead found in lipsticks


Lipsticks tested by a U.S. consumer rights group found that more than half contained lead and some popular brands including Cover Girl, L'Oreal and Christian Dior had more lead than others, the group said on Thursday.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics said tests on 33 brand-name red lipsticks by the Bodycote Testing Group in Santa Fe Spring, California, found that 61 percent had detectable lead levels of 0.03 to 0.65 parts per million (ppm).

Busta Rhymes Speaks On New Album


Busta Rhymes has confirmed rumors that he will be releasing another LP on Aftermath. The album, tentatively titled Back on My BS, is scheduled for a December 4 release date. Rumors have circulated about the album, and Busta also made mention of it during an appearance on 106 & Park. While no lead single has been selected, Busta seems extremely excited about his Cool and Dre produced collaboration with Linkin Park, entitled "It Looks Like We Made It." Busta gave Rolling Stone a few insights into the track.

Rakim Putting Finishing Touches on "7th Seal"


Since his last album, 1999's The Master, fans have eagerly awaited Rakim's follow-up album. After Oh My God, a project with Dr. Dre fell through after numerous delays, The Seventh Seal was announced...and delayed numerous times.

Fans waiting for the album to drop on 7/7/07 as promised were disappointed, as nothing of the sort occurred. However, Rakim states that he still has intentions to drop the long-awaited album, which will drop via his own G&E Trust label.

Mike Jones' "Dream" Deferred Again, Album Pushed Back To November


Houston rapper Mike Jones' album, The American Dream, has been deferred for the third time.

According to Billboard, Jones' sophomore effort, which was first expected to hit shelves in April and then moved to a July date, now won't see the light until November 20.

The rapper's first album, 2005's Who Is Mike Jones? has sold more than 1.4 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen's SoundScan.

According to Philadelphia rapper Cassidy, his rumored battle with Joe Budden at "Fight Klub" will not be going down.

Exclusive: "Crank That" Banned From Homecoming; Mr. Collipark Responds


Rapper Soulja Boy's "Crank That" - the most popular song in the country - has been banned from being played at a high school's homecoming dance in Mason, Ohio.

The single was banned after some parents and students complained to Mason High School principal David Allen, who printed out the lyrics to the popular song and made the decision to prevent the song from being played during the dance.

Shooting Mars Trey Songz Show; ATL Police Seek JT Money


Several sources have revealed to AllHipHop.com that the Atlanta Police are looking for rapper JT Money in connection with a shooting that took place last night (October 11) outside of Opera Nightclub, leaving one man injured.

According to Atlanta Police Department Public Information Officer Ron Campbell, two black males were involved in a verbal altercation, which quickly escalated into gunfire inside Opera, located at 1150 Crescent Street in Midtown Atlanta.

Ex-child soldier raps about hellish life


When he was a little boy in Sudan, singer Emmanuel Jal's mother was killed. Soldiers raped his sister. At the age of 9, filled with longings for revenge, he became a child soldier.

"Rap music is amazing, it's beautiful," he says. "But the problem is the lyrics. The person who writes the lyrics, that's the problem."

Lawsuits target iPhone, AT&T deal


Complaints over Apple Inc.'s use restrictions and recent software update for the iPhone have erupted in two lawsuits alleging Apple and its carrier partner, AT&T Inc., engaged in illegal monopolistic behavior.

Two separate lawsuits were filed Friday in San Jose -- one in federal court and the other in state court and both seeking class-action status.

Sniper says he feels shame, guilt for murders


Sniper Lee Boyd Malvo said in a letter to CNN that he is still "grappling with shame, guilt, remorse and my own healing if that will ever be possible." And a social worker who has worked extensively with him said he draws self-portraits that often show him with a tear running down his cheek.

1 of 3 Malvo, 22, spends 23 hours a day inside his cell at Virginia's toughest prison, a maximum-security compound called Red Onion, not far from the Kentucky border. He's serving a life sentence.

Apparently reports of an impending beef between Jay-Z and LL Cool J were extremely exaggerated. If you need a recap click (HERE). While LL's displeasure with the promotion of his Todd Smith album is well documented, he clarified the rumors with MTV.

Bobby Brown Denies Heart Attack


Despite previous statements made by his lawyers, Bobby Brown denied Wednesday (Oct. 10) that he had a heart attack.

According to CNN, the 38-year-old singer told the Associated Press Radio that he is fine, and simply went to the hospital for a checkup.

"None of it's true," said Brown. "I went in for a checkup. The doc gave me a clean bill of health."

Shots fired in high school


At least two people and perhaps as many as four were wounded Wednesday in a shooting at SuccessTech Academy, a high school in downtown Cleveland, according to reports.

Two students were taken to hospitals, said Andrea Jackson, press secretary for Cleveland's mayor. One was taken out of the school on a stretcher but was conscious.

Police are looking for a 14-year-old male in connection with the shooting, according to reports.

Cleveland fire, police and EMS are at the scene, as is Mayor Frank Jackson.

CNN affiliate WKYC reported four were wounded.

Hip Hop Honors Recharge Whodini


On Thursday night at Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan, VH1 celebrated its fourth annual Hip Hop Honors award show and concert. Honorees included Missy Elliott, Teddy Riley and Andre Harrell (as “The New Jack era”), the film Wild Style, Snoop Dogg and A Tribe Called Quest.

After the show, honorees, both of which performed, had very different sentiments when asked about the status of reunions, albums and future work.

Brooklyn-based trio Whodini, who are best remembered for 1984 hit singles “Friends” and “Freaks Come Out At Night” spoke highly on the significance of the award. One of the two emcees of the group, Ecstasy, told HipHopDX, “I’m happy for ourselves, but I’m more happy for our children. They might hear our songs or see our videos, but they never get an impact to feel what Whodini was all about. A night like tonight changes that.”

Fergie, Palestinian Rappers DAM, Eazy-E,NWA


Rap group The Black Eyed Peas were forced to halt a performance in El Salvador, after group member Fergie became ill.

Palestinian Hip-Hop group DAM will perform live on stage at the Jericho Stadium in the West Bank in the Palestinian territories with Canadian rock star Bryan Adams on October 18.

Priority Records is reissuing seminal rewordings by Compton Hip-Hop pioneer Eric "Eazy-E" Wright and rap group N.W.A. Featuring...Eazy-E is a new 16-track collection of Eazy's best collaborations and solo recordings.

Nelly & T.I. To Form Group?


Nelly hasn't been in the limelight for awhile. Now, he's ready to take back some of the shine. However, the buzz around the industry is that he and T.I. may have formed a group, and Nelly spoke on this.

DMX's Animal Cruelty Report Released, Still No Charges Filed


New York rapper DMX's Animal Cruelty Report results have been made public, following allegations of abuse.

After a month of detectives making several visits to DMX's Arizona property in response to animal neglect allegations, this summer, the investigation culminated on Aug. 24 with a raid of the rapper's home. As previously reported by SOHH, authorities confiscated 12 pit bulls - 3 of which were deceased - numerous weapons and about a quarter-ounce of marijuana at that time.

Koch Records in Bidding War for Death Row Records
