Wale, DJ Drama & Others Tour For Darfur Crisis


Wale, Asheru, Zion I and others will lend their talents and time for the upcoming “Darfur Now College Tour.”

STAND (Students Taking Action Now for Darfur) and Participant Media are sponsoring the tour, which coincides with a documentary DVD, Darfur Now that was released March 27. The schools chosen were selected for their efforts to end the current genocide in Darfur.

Lil' Wayne & Keyshia Cole Kick Off BET's "Spring Bling Bash"


Some of hip-hop and R&B's biggest stars are once again set to rock by the beach for thousands of spring breakers as BET is set to air it's annual "Spring Bling" programming.

Taped in Riviera Beach, FL, the the "Spring Bling Bash" is set to begin tonight (April 10) at 7:30 p.m. EST and continuing for the next couple of days. An A-list roster of artists will be performing throughout various shows including Lil' Wayne, Soulja Boy, Keyshia Cole, Mario, Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross, J. Holiday, Flo Rida, Mike Jones, Shawty Lo, Chingy and Day 26.

Foxy Brown Returns Home Next Week, In Talks For Reality Show


Foxy Brown is coming home. After serving eight months in a New York correctional facility, SOHH has learned that the Brooklyn-bred rap star will be freed next Friday (April 18).

"Foxy will be released on April 18th," Foxy's manager and CEO of Black Hand Entertainment, Chazz Williams told SOHH. "[She's] is not getting out early. Foxy served her entire sentence [under] good time, that is, days deducted by the law, that every prisoner gets unless its procedurally taken [away] for breaking prison rules."

Lil' Wayne's Carter III Pushed Back


Though originally slated for a May release, Weezy's rep confirmed to SOHH that the album is due out in June. The alleged cover art hit the net earlier today.

Tha Carter III will be the rapper's sixth solo project and his first solo release since 2005's Tha Carter II. It will also mark the end of Weezy's Tha Carter trilogy which included 2004's Tha Carter and 2005's Tha Carter II. The two albums were RIAA certified gold and platinum respectively.

50 Cent Going To Death Row


If all goes as expected 50 Cent will be behind bars soon, not for any crimes, but instead to portray a death row inmate for an upcoming film role.

According to Variety, 50 is currently in negotiations to play a death row inmate whose impending execution excites widespread interest in the forthcoming indie flick Spectacular Regret.

Spectacular Regret will call on Blair Witch Project actor Joshua Leonard to make his debut as a dramatic feature director. Danny Huston, John Ortiz and Kelli Garner are already attached to the project, which focuses on the interconnected lives of four Los Angeles residents who are each fighting to overcome their past.

Bay Area Rapper Shot & Killed By Authorities After Stabbing Police Dog


Tragedy struck a Bay Area party last weekend when Santa Cruz rapper Almighty Aziz was fatally shot by local police after stabbing two people and a police dog.

According to The Mercury News, 24-year-old Aziz, whose real name is Aziz Howard Raqmond James, was attending a local gathering when police were called to the scene after he became paranoid and violent.

Luke's Ex Seeks Almost 40K In Child Support


Luther Campbell may be off the roads if his ex-girlfriend has her way, as she is seeking to have the mogul’s license suspended due to a back child support bill.

According to the Miami Herald, Davania Branch Burns, 41, is suing Campbell, claiming that he owes her almost $40,000 in back child support for his daughter, Lutheria, 20.

Jermaine Dupri; TAG Brand Launch Record Label


Hip-Hop mogul Jermaine Dupri has teamed with Proctor & Gamble’s TAG brand to launch a new record label in conjunction with the Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJ).

Dupri is president of the newly formed venture, which is dubbed TAG Records. Dupri will run the label out of New York and will be integral in developing a roster of talent for the new imprint.

Trina Tops Charts; Slip-N-Slide Lands Two #1's In A Month


Miami bred rapper Trina and Slip-N-Slide Records are celebrating the #1 debut of her fourth album Still Da Baddest, which is currently the top album on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Charts.

Still Da Baddest gives Slip-N-Slide their second #1 album in the past 30 days, as label mate Rick Ross scored a #1 Pop debut with his latest album, Trilla, in mid-March.

Sean John Anniversary Special Debuts Tonight


MTV will premier two new specials this week to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Sean John, America’s fastest growing men and women’s sportswear line.

The first, a documentary entitled If I Were King, will debut on MTV at 10pm EST tonight (Apr 9).

Following an encore of If I Were King on Saturday (Apr 12), the network will present Diddy’s latest search special, Sean John: Internship by Design.

RZA To Host Hip-hop Chess Federation Panel


Wu-Tang producer and co-founder RZA has signed on as one of the hosts of the next installment of the Hip-Hop Chess Federation's Life Strategies panels.

The producer/actor, born Robert Diggs, will be joined by chess icon Josh Waitzkin and Mixed Martial Arts Champion Ralex Gracie, as they demonstrate how students of chess and martial arts are trained in numerous ways to avoid violence.
