Obama crosses key threshold

A split decision in the Oregon and Kentucky primaries Tuesday pushed Barack Obama across an important threshold, giving him a majority of elected delegates and bolstering his claim to the Democratic presidential nomination.

Hillary Rodham Clinton swept Kentucky by a 2-1 margin, vowing at a victory rally in Louisville that she would stay in the race at least through closing contests in Montana and South Dakota in two weeks.

Even so, Obama marked his Oregon victory with a rally in Des Moines, returning to the state where the opening Iowa caucuses four months ago sent his presidential bid soaring. He sought to pivot from a fierce primary fight to a general-election battle against presumptive Republican nominee John McCain.

Proposal may ease cancellation fees for cell phone users

The government is quietly negotiating to help cell phone customers avoid expensive fees when they cancel contracts with wireless companies, The Associated Press has learned.

The Federal Communications Commission is considering a plan that would cap cancellation fees for cell phones.

Cell phone companies routinely charge customers $175 or more for quitting their service early. Under a proposal to the Federal Communications Commission, the wireless industry would give consumers the opportunity to cancel service without any penalty for up to 30 days after they sign a cell phone contract or until 10 days after they receive their first bill.

Ice Cube Defends Gangster Rap To Michael Eisner

Last night Ice Cube made an appearance on Michael Eisner’s talk show Conversations with Michael Eisner. The former CEO of Disney interviewed Cube on his success, his new ventures, and on his latest music video.

Eisner pointed out the atrocities in his music video “Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It,” and saw clearly the irony in the parallels between rap music and past events. Ice Cube reiterated this thought as he stated, “Last year with Don Imus and the Virginia Tech shooting, and even Michael Vick and the dog fighting, there was this swirl in the media that gangsta rap is the root of all evil, almost. I started thinking how ironic that is. Gangsta rap was basically invented in 1985, but if you was around in 1984, you know how crazy it was in the world. So how could gangsta rap be the cause of all these global problems?”
