Kid Rock releasing first album in 4 years


There's quite a bit more rock than rap on Kid Rock's first studio album in four years, tentatively titled "Rock'n'Roll Jesus," which will arrive October 9.

Recorded at his Michigan home, the Atlantic Records set cuts a broad stylistic swath, from metallic headbangers like first single "So Hot" and "Sugar" (the set's only rap track) to such rootsy, gospel-hued fare as "Amen" and "When You Love Someone."

Nicole Richie Sentenced, Fined for DUI


Nicole Richie pleaded guilty Friday to driving under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to about four days in jail and fined by a court commissioner who said she was lucky nobody was killed when she drove the wrong way on a freeway.

Feds Attack ATL's Black Mafia Family, Indict 16 More Members


Sixteen more members of the Atlanta based gang The Black Mafia Family (BMF) were indicted yesterday (July 25) for participating in a nationwide cocaine distribution.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, federal authorities claim BMF engaged in violence and trafficked thousands of pounds of cocaine, earning the gang over $270 million.

Ron Isley Prepares For Jail Time, Def Jam Fights For Pardon


Back in September of 2006, the R&B legend was convicted on five counts of tax evasion and one count of failing to file a tax return.

Def Jam recently posted a message asking Isley Brothers fans to call, fax or email the White House immediately, in order to prevent lead singer Ronald Isley from serving a three year sentence in a federal prison.

Amanda Diva On Floetry Break Up, "It's Not My Story To Tell"


SOHH recently caught up with Amanda Diva to shed some light on her new role as poetry spitter in the Grammy-nominated duo, Floetry.

As SOHH previously reported, Diva will join singer Marsha Ambrosius in the new Floetry lineup, replacing former "floacist" Natalie Stewart. Floetry, originally from the UK, made their mark in the States with their 2002 album Floetic, which combined the spoken word poetry of Stewart with Ambrosius's lush vocals.

Wu-Tang Legacy Explored In New Doc


The history of the Staten Island MC's will finally be unveiled as the documentary Wu: The Story Of The Wu-Tang Clan is set to be released on DVD.

The film is both directed and narrated by Gerald "Gee Bee" Barclay, who has directed several Wu-Tang music videos in the past, including "The Mystery Of Chessboxin'" and "Method Man." Chronicling the rise of the Shaolin collective, the documentary features never before seen interviews with the group and rare concert footage. The film also has appearances from DJ/writer/radio and TV personality Bobbito Garcia, legendary Video Music Box host Ralph McDaniels, and noted hip-hop journalist Bonz Malone, among others.

Bob Dylan Shakes Up Music; Hip-Hop Remix On The Way


After years of rejecting offers to remix his catalog, music legend Bob Dylan has agreed to let producer Mark Ronson create a Hip-Hop version of one of his classic songs.

According to UK's The Times newspaper, Ronson will remix Dylan's 1966 song "Most Likely You'll Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine), taken from Dylan's album Blonde on Blonde.

Aquafina labels to spell out source - tap water


PepsiCo Inc. will spell out that its Aquafina bottled water is made with tap water, a concession to the growing environmental and political opposition to the bottled water industry. According to Corporate Accountability International, a U.S. watchdog group, the world's No. 2 beverage company will include the words "Public Water Source" on Aquafina labels.
