Ludacris launches Web site, TV show


Ludacris is following the footsteps of P. Diddy and Jay-Z with a laundry list of projects, including a Web site, acting gigs and a show on the Planet Green network.

"It's my responsibility with the power that I have to show different sides of myself, not only my freedom of speech," the 30-year-old rapper told The Associated Press in a recent interview.

Judge, Deputy Son Charged with Human Trafficking

A former magistrate judge, his son -- who is a sheriff's deputy -- and the deputy's wife have been indicted on charges of human trafficking, United States Attorney David Nahmias' office said Wednesday morning.

D. William Garrett, 72, a former Fulton County Magistrate Judge; his son, 43-year-old Russell Garrett who is a Forsyth County Sheriff's Department Deputy; and the deputy's wife, 42-year-old Malika Garrett, have all been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of human trafficking, alien harboring, witness tampering, and making false statements, Nahmias' office said.

Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 6/15/08


It's all about Lil Wayne this week. The question wasn't if Weezy would take the number one spot, it was how he would take that top slot. Weezy slammed the competition with a staggering 1,005,545 copies sold of Tha Carter 3. This number eclipses the 957k that Kanye West's Graduation pulled in back in September. BET Green Lights NY Oil's "Lynched" Video


After having the video of his controversial breakout single banned by YouTube, NY Oil found some assistance from an unlikely source for an animated version of the song.

“That animated version was produced by BET,” he revealed during an interview with HipHopDX. “Of all people to do a video for ‘Y’all Should All Get Lynched’, that BET would opt to do it’s really bugged out.”

Lil Wayne and T-Pain Form Supergroup


Two of Hip Hop and R&B’s cameo kings are joining forces for an entire project.

In an MTV report, Lil Wayne has confirmed that he and T-Pain are forming a supergroup.

"We both have the same energy," he said in the report. "I don't sleep. If you ask anybody, I don't sleep. I think it's the cousin of death. As much as you sleep, you're impersonating death to me. He don't sleep. I play all day. He plays all day and all night."

BREAKING NEWS: Young Jeezy Arrested


Rapper Young Jeezy was arrested early Wednesday morning (Jun 18), after being pulled over by the Atlanta Police Department, AllHipHop.com has confirmed.

According to Public Affairs officer Ronald Campbell, Jeezy, born Jay Jenkins, was pulled over on Buford Highway around 2:20am, driving a white Chevrolet Corvette with temporary tags.

Game Reflects On The NBA Finals


The Game, an avid Lakers fan who predicted a seven game series, was
forced to watch a definitive thrashing as the Celtics dismantled the Lakers 131-92 to win their 17th NBA title.

“I was just saying that the first two games, the first game Boston
just beat the Lakers, the second game it seemed like the calls was going Boston’s way and sometimes the calls just go a certain way,” Game explained. “I just think it’s a big business and a lot more money can be made on seven championship games especially with everyone watching.”

BMG Launches New Hip-Hop Label


Rap music industry veteran Neil Levine will head up BMG Label Group's Battery Records, a new Hip-Hop incubator imprint.

According to The New York Post, Battery Records will sign and develop upcoming rap artists, grooming them for mainstream success.

The most promising of these artists would then graduate to be distributed through BMG's RCA and Zomba divisions.

Million DJ March Receives Green Light, ''Mixes Up'' Schedule


The Million DJ March, originally slated to be a three day event is now being reshuffled into a 48 hour affair, set for August 29th - 30th.

The shortening of the march is actually good news. The event, which will be held in Washington D.C., got the go ahead from D.C.'s Special Parks Services and Parks Rangers in the form of permits, allowing the Million DJ March to include evening and late night activities. Now the schedule will consist of live performances and speeches that will fit into two days, rather than being stretched out to three.

Celtics' Pierce zeroing in on his childhood dream: an NBA title


There are dreams pursued, and there are dreams abandoned.
Scott Collins, then an assistant basketball coach at Inglewood (Calif.) High, asked Paul Pierce, then a sophomore, if he wanted to work on his game before school.

Pierce chased dreams.

He awoke at 5:30, got in his Datsun B210 and arrived by 6 when Collins opened the gym.

Men do more housework than they used to, a study says, although they create more of it.

"I am very turned on when he's doing housework," says the 36-year-old Camden, Delaware resident, a middle school teacher.

"If there's a sink full of dirty dishes, he knows I'm going to take care of that before I want to get intimate. If he wasn't helping with the housework, I would not find that very attractive."

Sidney Poitier's message


It all began when Sidney Poitier flew to Atlanta, Georgia, in late December 2005 for the birth of his first great-granddaughter.

"When I arrived at the hospital, I saw my great-granddaughter in her mother's arms," he recalled. "Directly behind her was my daughter, the baby's grandmother. Next to her was my former wife, who was the baby's great-grandmother.

Lucas' new film focuses on Tuskegee Airmen


The black airmen whose lives will be the basis of a George Lucas movie know the picture will highlight their record of successfully escorting thousands of U.S. bombers in World War II.


George Lucas' new film "Red Tails" will go beyond what was covered in a 1995 HBO film about the airmen.

They also feel it should tell of the trials they encountered stateside, like seeing German prisoners of war being treated better and afforded rights that were withheld from black American citizens.

Soul Train Poised For A Return


After a two-year hiatus during which the show has been limited to low-quality, bootleg DVDs, late-night and weekend reruns, Soul Train may return to the airwaves. DJ Whoo Kid Plans Charity For Haiti, Talks 50 Chain Snatcher


Stopping by Brooklyn-based True Stories Radio, DJ Whoo Kid discussed a handful of topics concerning 50 Cent the Internet, and a charity of his own.

Wanting to set the record straight on the infamous video clip of 50 Cent being the victim of a chain snatching, Whoo Kid called out the lack of security and stated the scenario was bound to happen. “It was just a very uncontrollable situation where you have like 100,000 Africans, no security, and 50 Cent. I mean it was just a nightmare. And you can see when we were up on stage, prior to the guy jumping at him, there was like eight or nine other cats that we had to punch off stage or push off. And they were really fans, trying to hug him, you know? But it was very uncontrollable, the security was wack, and that’s exactly what you see happen.”

Eminem Returns To The Slaughtahouse W/ Masta Ace


As he re-emerges into the public eye, Eminem has recently contributed a remix to Brooklyn rapper Masta Ace's classic song, "Slaughtahouse."

Being featured on the recently released Delicious Vinyl's RMXXOLOGY, the updated '93 release allows fans to hear Em showcasing his signature production by downplaying the original heavy bass, translating it into a march-like beat. Al Gore to endorse Obama


After remaining neutral throughout the Democratic primary season, former Vice President Al Gore is officially backing Barack Obama's presidential run, and will appear with him at a Michigan campaign event Monday night.

"A few hours from now I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama," said the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee in a fundraising e-mail sent to supporters Monday. "From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States."

Akon Teams Up With Singer For Website


Akon and singer/composer Peter Buffet have joined forces to launch a website with the goal of providing practical ways to positively impact the world around them.

R. Kelly Jurors Believe Singer Was On The Tape--Unsure About Alleged Victim


On the heels of R. Kelly's acquittal in his child pornography trial jurors spoke out anonymously to reporters about the verdict.

A jury of 9 men and three women - 8 white and 4 black - acquitted Kells of all 14 counts of child pornography on Friday (June 13) after just two days of deliberation. Five jurors met with reporters immediately after the verdict was handed down.

While Al Sharpton arguably holds the strings to the African-American community, able to rally groups at will, he's also being accused of pulling on purse strings of big businesses.

According to the New York Post, almost 50 companies have given Sharpton money -- including PepsiCo, General Motors, Wal-Mart, FedEx, Continental Airlines, Johnson & Johnson and Chase -- and some labor unions sponsored Sharpton's National Action Network annual conference in April.

"Kanye Sucks!" Fans Scream After Rapper Shows Up Late For Concert


Angry, tired fans who had to wait into the wee hours of the morning for Kanye West to finally take the stage at the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee jeered him for his two-hour late appearance yesterday.

Armed with glow sticks, the mob booed the rapper, chanted "Kanye sucks" and pelted the glow-in-the-dark spears at the empty stage, while others just returned to their sleeping bags, giving up on Ye, according to BBC News

Snoop's Wife Arrested For Suspicion Of Driving Drunk


Snoop Dogg's wife was arrested this morning (June 14) in Fullerton, California on suspicion of drunk driving.

According to police, Shante Broadus, 32, was stopped around 12:15 am.

While police did not reveal test results, Broadus was arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, he said.
