EPMD Album Drops December 9, Redman, 9th Wonder Guest


After Erick Sermon announced to HipHopDX in June that EPMD would be returning with We Mean Business, the reunion album with Sermon and Parrish "PMD" Smith now has a concrete date. On December 9, Fontana will help release the group's first album since 1999's Out of Business.

"The CD is fuckin’ crazy. The shit is bangin’. Like, I ain’t gonna lie to you. It’s real Hip Hop shit for real Hip Hop heads. If you a Hip Hop head, it’s hard to hate the CD. You’re gonna be excited, trust me," Sermon said to DX.

Gnarls Barkley To Release Digital EP


Gnarls Barkley will be releasing a digital EP on Nov. 11 via Atlantic. The EP, titled Who's Gonna Save My Soul includes four versions of the song of the same time, as well as a live version of "Neighbors" from the 40-Watt Club in Athens, GA. and the non-album track "Mystery Man."

"It's the first song we did for the new record. There was that nod of agreement and sigh of relief that we're starting, and ... we're off!," said Gnarls Barkley member Cee-Lo to Billboard.com of "Soul." The song appears in its original version, as a demo, an instrumental and as the audio from MTV's "52 Bands."

Busta Rhymes Phones In Free NYC Concert


Hip-Hop superstar Busta Rhymes and West Coast group Pacific Division have signed on to participate in the upcoming "Music to Go" concert series set to hit the stage in New York next week.

Co-hosted and produced by mobile service Mozes and the Knitting Factory, both companies have created a 360 degree mobile concert setting for fans allowing cellular ticketing, in-venue mobile commenting and a day-of-show text alert campaign.

50 Cent Finally Settles Baby Mama Drama, Granted Limited Weekend Custody


After months of child custody disputes and court sessions, 50 Cent and his ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins appeared in a Long Island courtroom yesterday (October 22) agreeing to weekend custody rights over their 11 year-old son, Marquise.


According to the New York Post, the settlement grants 50 the right to visit Marquise one weekend a month, one month throughout the summer and on specified holidays. Despite not being allowed his two requested weekend visits a month, the G-Unit leader expressed his relief that the proceedings have finally come to an end.

"I'm happy it's actually done with," 50 said outside of the courtroom.

Lil Wayne Father Of New Born Son


Superstar Lil Wayne is capping off his record-breaking 2008 year with a personal milestone in the birth of his first son.

The newborn, named Dwayne Carter III, was born this afternoon at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Despite rumors and leaked pictures, Wayne has not confirmed the identity of the child’s mother.

Lyfe Jennings Arrested in Atlanta; Faces Criminal Trespass Charges


Singer Lyfe Jennings is facing two new felony charges and three misdemeanor charges after leading authorities on a chase in an Atlanta suburb Sunday night (Oct 19), and refusing to submit to an on-site DUI test, AllHipHop.com has learned.

According to a statement released by the Smyrna Police Department, the platinum recording artist, born Chester J. Jennings, was apprehanded shortly after officers responded to a report of gunshots on Spring Woods Drive in Smyrna, just west of Atlanta.

Early voting suggests 2008 may see record turnout, expert says


Officials in early voting states are reporting record turnout with Election Day still two weeks away.

The numbers indicate a record percentage of voters could participate in the presidential election, a voting expert said.

Michael McDonald, an associate professor of politics and government at George Mason University, said at least 2.2 million people already have voted using absentee or other types of ballots that allow them to vote before the polls open on November 4.

Twenty-nine states were accepting early ballots as of Tuesday, and two more -- New Jersey and Oklahoma -- will begin accepting early ballots next week.

Star And Buc Wild Leave Pulse 87


After returning to New York radio in January, Troi "Star" Torain and Timothy "Buc Wild" Joseph are making yet another departure from radio. The duo left 87.7 WNYZ Pulse 87, the most listened to dance music station in the country, on an optimistic note earlier this week.

"I'm proud of my role in the launch of Pulse 87 and I leave with a new found respect for the dance music culture," Star said in a statement.

DJ Babu Talks Duck Season Vol. 3 And More


In addition to his status as an International Turntablist Federation titleholder and duties as a member of Dilated Peoples, DJ Babu has been displaying his ear for beats since dropping Super Duck Breaks under the moniker "Turntablist." Those unfamiliar with Babu’s production work on his own series of Duck Season mixtapes, were likely brought up to speed last year, when one of Babu’s breaks opened the trailer for Jay-Z’s “Blue Magic” single.

50 Cent Adds To Filmography, With French Remake


While fans may be waiting patiently for 50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct, Fif has also been working on films. More recently, 50's been added to 13. The film is a remake of the French motion picture titled 13 Tzameti.

The film is about a young man who steals a package and follows instruction that go with it. The conflict is then presented when he arrives to the destination to find a dangerous situation and he is being followed by a cop.

Acclaimed actors Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham are also in the film, which is set to start shooting next month in New York.

MF DOOM Addresses Rumors Of Fake Performances


Though heralded as one of Hip Hop’s most acclaimed artists, MF DOOM has been a mystery behind the mask. In recent times, it has gotten to the point that fans are questioning the validity of DOOM shows, unsure if the man on stage is in fact the real MF DOOM. Lil' Wayne & Soulja Boy Top Online Hip-Hop Award Noms


Over 60,000 nominations have been counted and now the finalists for the Online Hip-Hop Awards (OHHA) 2008 have been announced, with the self-proclaimed "Greatest Rapper Alive," Lil' Wayne, and teen sensation Soulja Boy leading the nominations.

While Weezy has garnered the most nods (seven in total), Atlanta phenomenon Soulja Boy is not far behind with six nominations. Both rappers will compete for "King of The Net," "Artist of the Year (Hip-Hop)," "Album of the Year (Hip-Hop)," "Digital Download of the Year" and the "Off The Hook" award for best ringtone.

E-40 Talks "Ball Street Journal," Game & Snoop Dogg Collabo


Veteran West Coast rapper E-40 recently spoke with radio personality DJ Whoo Kid offering details about his upcoming album, dropping next month.

Talking to the comedic deejay on his popular Shade 45 radio show, the Bay Area slang general took some time to go over what fans can expect to hear on his tenth solo project, The Ball Street Journal, a follow up to 2006's certified gold selling album, My Ghetto Report Card.

"I got the boy Akon on that motherf*cker," 40 said. "T-Pain back on there again. I got Too [Short]. I got that boy Shawty Lo. I got Bun B. I got Gucci Mane."

Kanye West & Alicia Keys To Headline The AMAs


Mega-platinum selling artists Kanye West and Alicia Keys have been officially scheduled to perform at the American Music Awards (AMA) show in Los Angeles, California next month.


According to Newsday, both West and Keys, who are nominated for numerous AMAs, will be headlining the event as Ye is expected to perform new songs like "Love Lockdown" and "Coldest Winter" from his upcoming album 808s and Heartbreak. The performance will follow his highly received appearance at last month's MTV Video Music Awards.

Lil' Wayne's Asst Takes The Stand, Says Guns & Drugs "Occasionally" On Bus


Lil' Wayne's assistant testified in a New York court on Monday (October 19) that he "occasionally" saw guns and drugs on the multi-platinum rapper's tour bus.


Wayne was arrested after a performance at New York's Beacon Theatre in July of 2007, after police found a .40 caliber pistol on his bus. According to Newsday, Wayne's assistant Terry Bourgeois took the stand yesterday in regards to the case, to address whether or not he believed there was a gun on the vehicle. Despite saying he had no knowledge of any weapons in the vehicle at the time, Bourgeois did confess to "occasionally" seeing a handgun and people smoking marijuana while on the same tour bus on separate occasions. Although he also said he never saw Wayne in possession of a firearm.

"Dolemite" Dies At 81, Uncle Luke Speaks On Comedian's Importance


Legendary comedian Rudy Ray Moore, known for his portrayal of the cult character Dolemite and for proclaiming himself as the "Godfather of Rap," passed away over the weekend.


According to the Los Angeles Times, the 81-year old comedian died on Sunday (October 19) in Toledo, Ohio, due to complications from diabetes.. Known for being more of an cult icon with his unique rhyming and explicit word usage, Moore was respected by an assortment of rappers.

Eminem and Colin Powell Officially Endorse Barack Obama


As the most anticipated U.S. presidential election in history nears the final stretch, Hip-Hop megastar Eminem and former secretary of state Colin Powell are officially proclaiming their support for Democratic nominee Barack Obama.

While historically Eminem his voiced criticism of the Bush administration in songs, the Obama endorsement marks the first time the Detroit emcee has endorsed a political figure.

Rapper Eve Starring In Drew Barrymore's 'Whip It!'


Philadelphia rapper Eve has signed on to star in the upcoming comedy/drama Whip It!

The movie is based on the life of L.A. Derby Doll Shauna “Maggie Mayhem” Cross, who authored the book Derby Girl, from which the movie was adapted.

In the movie, Eve plays a roller derby diva named “Rosa Sparks.”
