Jimmy Iovine Explains Aftermath Delays


With rumors constantly circling the Aftermath Label, Interscope Chairman Jimmy Iovine sat down with Billboard yesterday to clear the smoke around the recent delays in Aftermath’s major upcoming releases.

With a new freestyle entitled "I'm Having A Relapse" hitting the web earlier this month, Eminem’s new project was rumored to be dropping this fourth quarter, but Mr. Iovine explained, “We only tried to put him [Eminem] out this year to replace Dr. Dre, but we got into a quagmire. Eminem was always coming next year.”

Ludacris Talks T.I. Collaboration, Clarifies DJ Premier Comment

Karrine Steffans Gets Defensive At Cal State Event


Former video vixen Karrine Steffans, who is most well known for her appearances in a number of Hip Hop videos and her New York Times best-selling book Confessions Of A Video Vixen, recently addressed a boisterous crowd of California State University Northridge students.

In a question and answer format, Steffans answered several questions from students, but became defensive when answering specific questions from the group of college students.

"What's changed is what I do. I am not what I do. I'm not what I've done. I am not my past," Steffans explained to the crowd. "My past does not define me as a woman. As a mother, as anything. And as I stand here, don't break your concentration to look at me. I want you to hear this."

Lil Wayne Clears Up 2nd Rochester Cancellation


With criticism mounting after this week’s second aborted Rochester concert, New Orleans superstar Lil Wayne is now striking back against accusations of unprofessionalism.

In an exclusive statement to AllHipHop.com, Wayne publicist Myiah Hughes from AR PR Marketing first illuminated the reason for the concert’s first delay on October 26.

Diddy Unveils New Fragrance Image on Times Square Billboard


As he prepares to officially unveil his newest fragrance next month, Sean "Diddy" Combs is giving shoppers an up-close look at the results of its use with a new billboard on New York's Times Square.

The giant ad, which features the rap mogul dressed in a sleek white tuxedo, is part of a new campaign for I Am King, Comb's latest scent.

The front lit 172 X 54 feet I Am King billboard, located at Broadway and 47th Street, will replace the current Sean John campaign image for several months.

Barrington Levy Teams With Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes


International superstar Barrington Levy has once again tapped members of Hip-Hop community to assist him as he makes another push for the mainstream spotlight.

The Reggae legend has released two versions of the first single from his forthcoming album, one of which features Busta Rhymes and President-elect Barack Obama.

The new track, titled “No War,” interpolates an Obama speech with lyrics by Busta Rhymes, Canada’s Kardinal Offishall, and of course Levy himself.

Fat Boys Return from Near 20 Year Hiatus


Emerging from years of dormancy, the Fat Boys have reunited to champion what they’ve dubbed the “Hip-Hop Old School Movement.”

The group originally began as a trio in 1982 featuring Prince Markie Dee, Kool Rock-Ski, and pioneering beatboxer the late Buffy AKA Buff Love.

Sonshine Music Festival Adds Holy Hip Hop Music to 2009 Line Up


Next year’s Sonshine Music Festival will help spread Gospel Rap among Christian music fans, through a new partnership with the Fellowship of Holy Hip-Hop.

Under the new agreement, the Fellowship will exclusively manage submissions of “Holy Hip-Hop” artists for consideration to perform onstage at the annual festival, as well as the stage times and performances of selected artists.

In addition, the Fellowship and the festival will work together to promote each other within and throughout their respective platforms.

MTV Airs Paris' New Video


After years of being shunned by mainstream media outlets, militant Bay Area rapper Paris has secured an unlikely supporter in MTV for his latest album Acid Reflex.

The network finalized a deal last week to prominently air Paris’ revolution-based video “Don’t Stop the Movement,” which features an uprising of American citizens storming the White House in response to police brutality.

The rappers, who are signed to Miami-based Poe Boy Entertainment, have teamed with Miami’s WEDR and McDonald’s to help needy families put food on the table this year, by handing out over 700 turkeys today (November 24) and tomorrow (November 25).

Wyclef Jean Mansion Foreclosed and Up for Sale


Former Fugees member Wyclef Jean is at the center of a new situation concerning his recently foreclosed Miami Beach mansion.

The Palm Beach Post reports that Jean took out a $2 million mortgage from Home Equity Mortgage Corp. in 2004 to purchase the estate through a corporation he owns with several friends.

MC BREED PASSES AWAY


MC Breed, a legendary Atlanta/Flint, Michigan based rapper, died today (November 22), according to a source with AllHipHop.com.

While details are still being confirmed, several sources told AllHipHop.com that the rapper died early this morning.

“He’s no longer with us,” said a tearful friend, who shall remain anonymous. “We are in the process of putting together a benefit concert, hopefully at Saint Andrews to raise money for a funeral,” the source told AllHipHop.com.
