T.I. Tops BET Hip-Hop Nominees With 9


T.I. has wrapped up another slew of BET Hip-Hop Awards nominations.

The Atlanta-based rapper received nine nominations for the second annual awards show, which will air on Oct. 17. Last year, the self-proclaimed "King of the South" garnered eight nominations, and won three awards.

Q-Tip Hits the Road With Common

The B.E.T. Hip-Hop Awards Are Back!


With MTVs VMA debacle over with, fans can get ready for yet another award show. When BET's second annual Hip-Hop Awards air on October 17, we can assume that the event will be free of any sedated Britney Spears performances or scuffles between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee. However, another Kanye West tantrum is always possible.

West is once again up for Video of the Year with "Stronger," while 50 Cent's "I Get Money," Common's "The People," and UGK's "International Players Anthem" also got nods. MIMS and Hurricane Chris will try to keep Lil' Wayne from taking the People's Champ Award two years in a row--Wanye has been nominated for his respective efforts on "Stuntin Like My Daddy" and DJ Khaled's "We Takin' Over." T.I. leads in all categories with nine nominations, including Best Live Performance and Lyricist of the Year. There will also be a special tribute to Hip-Hop legend KRS-One, who will receive ever so appropriately titled I Am Hip Hop Award.

VH1 Asks What's The Best Hip-Hop Website?


This year's VH1 Hip Hop Honors Award Show is not just paying tribute to artists, but it is also set to give props to the best in several other hip-hop related arenas.

Fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites in several Internet categories including "best hip-hop apparel site," "best hip-hop magazine site," "best hip-hop radio station site" and "best overall hip-hop site," a category in which SOHH.com is nominated. Tommy Lee apologizes for MTV brawl

Rich kid helps Haiti's poor


Aaron Jackson grew up in Destin, Florida, a self-proclaimed child of privilege with golf and sunshine filling most of his days.

In his early 20s he decided to travel, and the experience changed his life. "It really opened my eyes to what the world was really like," he says.

As a result of witnessing extreme poverty abroad, Jackson quit college and eventually headed to Haiti to help children.

Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 9/9/07


For the fourth week in a row, the charts are topped by Disney's High School Musical 2 Soundtrack which has sold 165k this week (1.4M total). Fergie, who has had the 2nd most downloaded track of the year, "Big Girls Don't Cry", has jumped from #5 to the #2 spot. The Dutchess sold 49k (2.6M total).

Young Joc's Hustlenomics, which debuted at #3 last week, has dropped to #11 with 28k sold (97k total), while T.I.'s T.I vs. TIP (which finally went platinum last week) fell 3 spots to #15. The southern rapper sold 25k this week (1.03M total).

Talib Kweli's Eardrum, which debuted three weeks ago at #2 on the charts, has taken another drop from #20 to #39 with 16k sold (100k total). Aesop Rock's None Shall Pass dropped 52 spots to #102 since debuting last week. However, a recent MTV spotlight as artist of the week might have Aesop back on track next week.

Ice Cube's little talked about greatest movie hits album, In The Movies, debuted at a disappointing #169 selling only 4k.
