Snoop goes Bollywood


Snoop Dogg's done Hollywood. Now he's moving on to Bollywood.

“Yo, what up. This Big Snoop Dogg. Represent the Punjabi. Aye ya, Hit 'em with this,” the rapper says while introducing the title song to “Singh is Kinng,” a Bollywood film that opens tomorrow.

Clad in a maroon slim-fitted Indian kurta and beige trousers and a diamond-studded turban, Snoop Dogg lounges on an oversized armchair draped with blue and pink silk alongside Akshay Kumar, the movie's lead star, in a video posted on the Internet by the producers, Cashmere Asia.

Demographic landscape shifts across United States


White populations have declined in more than half of the USA's counties since 2000, helping fuel a rise in the number of communities where minorities are now the majority, an analysis of 2007 Census estimates released today shows.

The data reflect how immigration, a population boom among Hispanics and the slowing growth of an aging population of whites are reshaping the nation's demographic landscape.

Snoop Dogg tour bus riders arrested for pot


A tour bus carrying hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg was pulled over and two people were arrested on marijuana possession charges Thursday a few hours before a concert in Dallas, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

DPS spokesman Charlie Morgan said members of a commercial vehicle inspection team pulled the bus over on Interstate 45 in Corsicana because the vehicle had an expired registration sticker. Troopers searched the bus for drugs after they said they smelled marijuana and found two ounces of the drug, he said.

Detroit mayor arrives at jail


Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was jailed Thursday after a judge found he had violated terms of his bond by taking an unauthorized trip to Canada last month.

Kilpatrick, who is facing felony charges of perjury, obstruction of justice and misconduct of office, had been free on $75,000 bond.

Jay-Z Drawing Up A New 'Blueprint'


Jay-Z has confirmed rumors that he's hard at work on his 11th and final album via Def Jam, "The Blueprint 3."

Last night (Aug. 6), the MC appeared as a guest during Kanye West's Glow in the Dark concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden. Amidst performing, West asked the audience if he could play a few beats that he recorded while in Hawaii recently, including a song tentatively called "Jockin' Jay-Z."

Woman Found Dead After Lil Kim Party


A woman who reportedly attended, and was later physically removed from Lil Kim's 33rd birthday party was found dead yesterday (August 6). Bystanders say Ingrid Rivera, 24, of Richmond Hill was escorted out by security at Spotlight Live for allegedly being too intoxicated Sunday night. Three days after the star-studded party Rivera's body was found in a utility closet on the roof of the Times Square club by a maintenance worker.

Rick Ross Day Halted By Gunfire


The Second Annual Rick Ross Be Out Day was interrupted by gunfire today (August 6), AllHipHop.com has learned.

The annual event took place in Carol City Park and offered the local community a day of food, and fun sponsored by Rick Ross himself.

The event went off without a hitch, until Ross took the stage and that’s when the gunfire erupted.

France denies role in Rwandan genocide


France on Wednesday said accusations by Rwanda that French politicians and military officials helped prepare and carry out the 1994 Rwandan genocide are "unacceptable."

Rwanda's Ministry of Justice released a report Tuesday detailing the alleged French role in the mass killings, which left 800,000 people dead in 100 days when Hutu extremists went on a rampage killing Tutsis and moderate Hutus.

Dr. Dre Cognac To Hit Market In Time For Detox


In a somewhat ironic choice of products, Dr. Dre and Interscope Geffen A&M Records have made a joint venture with beverage company Drinks Americas to release "Aftermath Cognac" in the next 60 days...apparently in time for Detox.

According to Billboard.com, Drinks Americas announced in an earnings statement that it would be introducing the cognac via Abecassis Cognac, a cognac producer.

Alicia Keys asks cigarette maker to stop branding show


Philip Morris International has pulled down billboards and posters promoting an Alicia Keys concert Thursday in Indonesia's capital after the singer protested the cigarette company's sponsorship.

The logo and slogans of A Mild cigarettes, produced by a Philip Morris affiliate, featured prominently in promotional materials for the concert.

Actor Morgan Freeman hospitalized at The MED after accident


Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident Sunday night in north Mississippi.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson Ben Williams said Freeman and a female passenger were traveling eastbound on Mississippi Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County when his vehicle went off the edge of the road. Freeman overcorrected, flipping his 1997 Nissan Maxima several times before coming to a rest.

Sony, LV Settle Over Rap & R&B Logo Infringement


Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Louis Vuitton Malletier have come to a settlement agreement in an ongoing court battle over the use of the luxury fashion brand’s intellectual property.

In the last five years, Louis Vuitton filed similar lawsuits against Sony BMG and its labels, accusing Sony of trademark counterfeiting and infringement, unfair competition, injury to business reputation and false and deceptive business practices, for using Louis Vuitton’s Toile Monogram – the famous LV logo – and Multicolore trademarks – which includes it’s “Cherry Blossom” design.
